An Evening with Brod Bagert
A Public Presentation and Book Signing as part of the “Poets for Art” program

Some New Orleans politicians go to jail. This one went to poetry.

After serving as a New Orleans City Councilman, trial lawyer and Public Service Commissioner in the 1970s and 80s, Brod Bagert left the world of politics behind to pursue his passion to become a full-time, professional poet.

Since then, he’s published 17 books of poetry for children and adults and spoken to audiences in all 50 states, Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Over 30 years, he’s seen how natural and inevitable it is for people across all walks of life to love poetry. And yet, most people in our country end up being taught to hate it.

Brod’s become convinced that the only problem in how we approach poetry in our country is that we’re doing it all wrong!

If you’re a poetry person, you’re in for a party. If you’re a non-poetry person, you may not stay that way.
