Brod Bagert
is a poet from the City of New Orleans. He studied the classics in Latin and Greek, wrestled and boxed to vent adolescent angst, fell in love with and married his high-school sweetheart, practiced law, served in public office, and reared four children that are the joy of his life.
Don Doggett / Principal / Beaufort, South Carolina / April, 2010
A principal of a high poverty school, I watch Brod Bagert challenge my students to become something more than what people believe they will become. I watch as my children see themselves in his poems and dream dreams that temporarily elevate them from the poverty in which they live and transport them into the world that he has created. I cannot say enough about the man that makes my children smile!
Lena Ballone Duran, Ph.D. / Associate Professor, Science Education: Bowling Green State University / March, 2010
Brod's presentation at Bowling Green State University's Literacy in the Park was an amazing and unique opportunity for my family. My sons, ages 5 and 3, were engaged during his entire poetry presentation.

Brod Bagert's performance mesmerized students and faculty alike. One of our kindergarten teachers used her planning time to come back and enjoy the upper grades assembly. The local newspaper's photographer told me that Brod was the best he had ever seen.
Sierra Furst / Student Teacher / BGSU Early Childhood
I was extremely glad I attended Brod's workshop. I thought he had a lot of great things to say about poetry, pedagogy, literature, and children in general. He was a very dynamic speaker, gave a very interesting presentation, and gave concrete and appropriate examples of everything he talked about. I also really enjoyed his poems.
Kerri Miller / Student Teacher / BGSU Early Childhood
I enjoyed the energy he brought to his presentation and how passionate he felt about it. The part I liked the most was how he knew many of his poems. This showed how dedicated to his work he is and also gave us a good sense of who he was as a poet and a performer.
Lori Belair / Librarian / Cayouga, New York / April, 2010
Wow! Brod was unbelievable! Students and staff have been raving about his hilarious performances and the fact that out of all the authors we've had, they felt Brod was the best!
Barbara Toresco / School Library Media Specialist / Upper Saddle River, NJ / April, 2010
Brod's program captured everyone’s attention and after an hour, even our youngest Kindergarten children didn't want to say Good-Bye. His inspiring program prompted children to return to classrooms and insist on writing poetry. When asked if they enjoyed Brod's visit, all responses were cheers. He is a dynamic author that every child should experience, at least once.
